Important information on Glass & Glazing Licenses

Last week, we sent out an email blast regarding the Glass & Glazing license changes. Because this went into effect July 1, 2011, with very little publicity, we wanted to make sure you were aware of the changes. However, the effect of the changes on various licenses holders was unclear. Even for CILB!

We now have information straight from the CILB office. To be clear, Division I contractors ARE NOT affected by this change at all. If you hold a Division I license (CGC, CBC, CRC), you may continue to do glass and glazing work, including installing windows, storefronts, etc. The statutes have not yet been updated, but this is according to CILB executives.  When the new statutes are posted, we will let you know.

Contractors who currently have a Specialty Glass & Glazing license will be receiving a new license in the mail with a new license number that begins with CGG.  The numeric portion of the license should remain the same.  Look for your license in the mail in the upcoming weeks.  All of your marketing materials need to be updated to include you new license number. You can also verify your license number here: https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp?mode=0&SID=  Just like any other contractor, your license number should be on any and every thing that is remotely considered advertising or marketing.  This includes, but is not limited to, business cards, truck or van wraps, brochures, advertisements, and more…

If you have any questions, as always please send them on over.  The rules are not always easy to follow or understand.  We are here to help you in any way we can.
